News and current projects

My second Harris novel is almost complete and I hope to get it up on Amazon Kindle soon. Meanwhile I have been trying to find a publisher willing to look beyond their "prescribed formula for submissions" for series of children's early reader books using the Frilly Analogy (first used in our book Wellness at Work), as well as a series of three early reader books featuring a greyhound named Boy.

Very recently (December 2025) a new story Black and White was "long listed" in a Reedsy (international) competition. It is available under the Free Fiction button or here.
This is what the judges had to say: "Your prose, stark and haunting by turn, evokes such a sense of place and setting — and is commendable in and of itself! But what will really stay with us is the emotional weight of the story. This isn't an easy topic to tackle by any means, which arguably makes it all the more important to do so. And in not shying away from the cruelty and discrimination of apartheid, you've created a story and characters that will stay with readers for a long time."

Fairly recent achievements include a win in the flash fiction section of the Maureen Freer Literary Competition.
My winning entry, Necessity, and a shortlisted entry Father and Son, can be read here.

In other short story news three of my stories were selected a while ago for publication in an anthology by UK publisher Audio Arcade.
